Dumb question, but what tool(s) do you use to loosen and tighten the nuts underneath the deck lip (crossbar nuts and shroud anchor pin nuts)? Obviously you can use a socket or box-end wrench on the top-side crossbar bolts, but I don't believe a socket would fit underneath. I'd hate like hell stripping one of the nuts. |

Shroud anchor pins are in a metal rail they can't turn. For the other a thin wall deep well works good. Use a 6 sided instead of the 12 sided ones. |

I either clamp a pair of vice grips to the nut to keep it from spinning or I wedge a large flat-blade screwdriver between the side of the nut and the anchor plate flange. For the anchor pins, I pass a smaller screwdriver through the hole in the anchor pin (topside) and use that to torque the pin down. For the X-bar bolts, I use a ratchet wrench. I always use loctite when re-installing, even if the nuts are self-locking - cheap insurance. Technically, a nylock nut should only be used one time and then discarded. sm |
