So I'm looking at the system I have now. Trying to keep everything as simple as possible. What do you guys like/dislike? Right now I have what is pictured below. I just got a hobie skippers harness. I don't have dogbones, or something similar, but wanted to see what everyone likes before I jump in and start buying. ![]() I was looking into something like what I found here, I like how simple the setup is: http://www.murrays.com/mm5/merchant.mvc ... re_Code=MS Would love to get some feedback on this subject. |

On my 21SE I have three pairs of trapeze wires. Two pairs are similar to the adjustable one you are looking at.My trap setup has two handles per trap line.My kids and I prefer the adjustable ones every time.So as soon as I trap out my kids race to grab that other adjustable one.I really need to upgrade to that style so there is no different to fight over. As far as the bucket you are showing, look at the harness's with a spreader bar for more comfort and less pinching. You will get what you pay for... Tighten those sheets and trap out ...Bill 404 21SE ![]() |

Once you go "Crotchless w/ spreader bar" ... you'll never go back ... When you do distance races you can be hanging from the "wire" for hours .... and hours .... and hours .... I use "Easy Loops" on my trapeze system .... no "dogbones" .... been wacked by those things whipping around too many times ... (I know people that have chipped teeth, broken sunglasses, been hit in the eyes .... etc ) so I changed over to the "softer" Easy Loops" .... and you can make your own if you want w/ some wire rope, PVC Pipe, and swages. .. but ...it's a good idea to ALWAYS wear some form of eye-protection .... I like the "trapeze ball" system ... but just haven't found that system rigged on spreader bars that will fit on my harnesses ... so I still use "Trap Hooks" .... |

I really don't mind the dog bones, I have never had a reason for wanting something better. I always keep the bungees in great shape on my rig. The dog bone is kinda easy to grab and hook. It has made some holes in a few shirts when my shirt gets stuck between the bone and hook, thats no biggie, not like I'm at a fashion show. Every time I take my GF sailing I have to tell her that like ten times. I have never had the dog bone hurt anyone. Either way there is a piece of metal or plastic that can hurt you in place of a dog bone. I have heard comments about if you have a standard hook it can cause damage to your boat, which will cost a lot of money. If you fall off your boat and you need to get on, the hook can cause some/lots of damage, especially if the boat is moving and your trying to get on in a hurry. The plastic ball receptacle on that harness doesn't look as sturdy as a SS hook. Either way get a crotchless w/spreader bar, I get mine real tight and it takes no upper body strength to hang. |

I really like the quick release spreader bar by RWO. Expensive, but could save your life! Also can solve the issue of scraping your hook across the boat when you are trying to get aboard. Just pop the hook off, put it in a pocket, get on the boat, and then pop it back on. http://www.apsltd.com/c-3825-trapeze-harnesses.aspx I used dogbones for years and then changed to the "Can't Miss" type and like them a lot better. Hi Jim, I think you and I are referring to the same type of trapeze loops .... a loop of wire rope swaged into a circle ... approximently 4" by 6" w/ a plastic bar/handle in the middle .... usually black, but I've seen clear/white also .... I thought I had seen them referred to as "Easy Loops' but I could be mistaken ... and they could be called "Can't Miss" ... Or is the "Can't Miss" the Ball & Socket type??? |

Hi Harry, Yep, same thing. According to the Murrays link above, they call them "Can't Miss". Jim |
