I have solid mast (no comptip), should I fly my spinnaker off the tang, or should I do the drop down bail setup?
What do you guys think?

The bail system allows the spins head to rotate around the mast. On the aluminum mast you could use the stainless piece the tigers use instead of a dyneema bail, comptips do not have this option.
I have used both setups and I like the bail system the best. Plus, most all the newer boat designs utilize a bail for the spin so there must be an advantage.

Thank you, that's what I kind of figured, but I wasn't sure and couldn't find an answer searching the forum. I just wanted to check with somebody that's been there before.

So for the bail I should use something like amsteel, or should I use something like Validator SKB or Warpspeed, which have a dyneema core and a polyester cover. I think i read somewhere that knots don't hold so well in straight dyneema, you need the cover to stop the knot slipping.

Single braid works fine. Use it for the bail as well. I have used both methods on both alu and comptip masts with no problem.

Thanks

thats easy then, as I'm making from bridles from amsteel blue, I'll just order a few more feet.
