Heya folks, looks like you all have a wonderful community here. Seems to be a lot of good info lying around, it'll just take a little while to absorb it all ![]() Im new to this area of water sport, and water relaxation. And ready to jump in with both feet. I just recently bought a H18, I have reppaced all the ropes (rigging?) and rep'd all the tramp ropes with shock cord.. I understood I would have to do all this, and think i got a good deal on the boat. We will see next weekend when I launch it ![]() I had a quick question though about my Serial Number. I read Matt's post detailing what each section of the SN means.. To no avail, I turn to you all. S/N (hull) #: CCMH8200M84B Maybe im just confused, but this would make it. Coast Catamaran Manufacturer Model H SN seq 8200 13th month of the year ? 1984 model and the random letter B on the end ? Many thanks, and I look foward to learning much with you guys. /wave Gann. |

Serial numbers. Yep... 1984. The M? and the B? I know Hobie was building a ton of boats back then. Probably rolled over to the next letter (month) for the M. The B? Could be the same issue. I will review on Monday. |

New here too. Just sold my h16, but had so much fun with it I bought an 18. The serial number looks like sxla0858087 there might be a 7 and a 4 following. It is very hard to read. The first sticker from LA parks and rec looks to be dated 1976. Has not been registered since '95 so it is off the DMV computer. Boat appear to be in great shape. Not cracks. Tramp is a mesh so it is probably a replacement. Any tips or cautions would be appreciated. How many number should the hull number have? Is the a website that charts the numbers. Thought I found one when I looked up for the h16. Thanks and welcome all help. |

This is not a Hobie Cat serial number. The numbers are on the transoms. Here is a link to photos and description of it. http://www.hobiecat.com/support/warrant ... erial.html |

Thanks Matt, The numbers are on the transom and they look like they were stamped into the gel coat when it was still soft. I have my cam with me and will take a picture. I will also look for engravings on the transom. We plan to take it out this weekend, are there any cautionary notes? compared to the h16 the mast stepping mechanism on the h18 looks like it is is a lot easier to use. I can't find the deck covers. I bought some replacements 6" screw-on. Are the old covers still available for purchase before I cut in the new ones? Thanks again for your help. |

Odd one. The molded in numbers would not be Hobie. Picture of the boat? You in Oceanside? Bring it by? Pop-in ports? 61380001 still available. |

Here is a link to the pictures of the Serial Numbers, Hatch, and Trailer ID's. Maybe this will help someone else later. I am assuming it is a '74. The hull and deck are in perfect shape. It does need a polishing and eventually a painting. I don't think it was used much as there is no wear what so ever on the bottom. Boat appear to be complete. I will rig up to make sure all is there and that I don't fall through the tramp. http://hctb.com/my_sailing_page.htm |
