I'm thinking of doing a tramp again on my big cruising Hobie version 2.0.

Instead of using the Hobie 18 beams, I'm using wooden box beams to strengthen the structure. I'm sort of building a H21SC with some volume to the hulls--oh and lighter too.

I have a set, what are you offering?

Have an H18 sail set? Obviously not a straight trade but maybe a little off the sail cost

PM me if you want

Don't want to mess up a potential deal... but like this:

Maybe it's the same thing?

Hey, how about some more pic's of that boat??! Is that two sets of 18 hulls sliced together??!

No, it's a hobie 18 minus the hulls and crossbeams

You can check out the build of Gary Dierking's Tamanu hulls here http://wikiproa.pbworks.com/w/page/1459 ... anu-Canoes
and

I might go with a hard deck aft and a front tramp like the H21SC has for my own version of a costal cruiser. As you see it in the pic above, it's all H18 except the hulls. I cracked the main beam in the tramp groove and had to limp the last couple days of the texas 200. That precipitated big box beams as version 2.0.

Not as speedy as the 18 since the max hull beam is 16" and the sections are flat, but it's a great load carrier for costal cruising & camping. My thought for this boat is to share the H18 gear and swap rig & rudders for the sportier ride of the 18. When cruising, go with the Tamanu hulls and the H18 rig. Either way it been fun so far!

Thanks for doing the legwork there! I was looking at aluminum suppliers like online metals and what not--not finding what I wanted either. That extrusion is REALLY similar to the H18 one. I'm going to go measure mine & see. hobie wants 150 a side vs the $15 buck a unit, so other alternatives must be researched.

thanks for the link!
