My H-18 Halyard Line and Luff Tensioner are gone on the used SX I bought. How long are they supposed to be? What is the luff tensioner made out of? Thanks! |

This is shown in the catalog. Halyard - RH112WHT (1/12" leech line) - 20 feet Luff tensioner - RH018WHT (1/8") - 5 1/2' |

I had the same situation. I bought 30 ft. of 1/8" line and a pair of sister clips. Then I used about 5 feet for one and 25 ft for the other. It works great but I can say that I could have got away with two or three feet less. The hard part is getting the little block at the end of the jib halyard to go into the pocket when you are bending on the jib. It takes a bit of jiggling. |

sister clips are small metal line ends that hook together for temporary use. If no pics on hobie catalog try layline.com I know they have pics. I don't use them but own a pair I tried out and didn't like. I'm afraid they might detach while getting the pully into the pocket. Plus, I don't mind untieing the bowline knot. Thats all they do. |

I removed the old luf tensioner wire and have only used a halyard for some time...Now I have a new luf tensioner but have no idea how it and the halyard are ment to work... Could someone explain with details what i should do? I have a H18 a jib a luf tensioner and a halyard what next 
Should I put a small block on the end of the luff tensioner? The old one had one installed... Thanks! |

You are now talking about the actual halyard wire? The wire routs through the sheeve at the top of the forestay assembly. The shackle attaches to the jib head. The halyard line ties to the thimble end. No block needed. We quit using them (blocks) because they get hung up on the luff sleeve / when hoisting and zippering to the forestay. Hoist the jib, then tie the shorter line to the tack shackle. Pass that up to the halyard wire thimble and back down to the shackle. Tension the luff and tie off. Remove the longer halyard line and stow. Zip the luff closed and sail. |
