Can anyone provide any input on the folliwng boat i found for sale?

1992 Hobie 18SX for $5,995 in Rhode Island with a trailer.

The hulls are in almost perfect shape except for some wear around the daggerboard holes. The tarp is brand new blue, and it has matchign new coverings for the wings. The main mylar sail is in great shape, and the jib is in pretty good shape.

Only cosmetic issues with the boat are the fading of the black aluminum. Can anything bring this back to life?

However the owner (A racer and mechanical engineer) had reinforced the hulls with plastic bolts, which seem to have worked fine for 10+ years.

Also the serial number was carved by hand? Is that normal?

Those bolts seem to be in the lip. I don't know why they are there. Don't think they are needed or serve any purpose. If they are holding a crack between the top cap and hull I would be very suspect.

The owner stated that the glue started to seperate and leak slightley when the boat got out of warranty in 1995, so he put the screws in and they have been fine ever since.
