I was running a 3/8 (10mm) line as my main sheet with my 6:1 block set. I just got the new 8:1 block set and the line feels to heavy. What would one run in the new low profile 8:1 blocks? (4 carbo on top) and 3 carbo on bottom with the extra single out front of the 3. Maybe I should use my jib sheet line? |

I believe mine is 3/8" with a 7:1 system. However, mainsheet diameter is really a balance between two issues - too fat of a line will not run through the bolcks smoothly. To skinny of a line will hurt your hand. So if the line runs through the blocks well and is comfortable in your hand (fully sheeted upwind in a blow) then it will work. On a high reduction system like 8:1, I would think you would err towards a smaller line diameter since the loads on your hand will be less and you need a thinner line to run more smoothly through the extra blocks. sm |

You can knitte 10mm (3/8) line with 6 or 8mm thin line. Like this http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-2Ql_S8taww8/T ... CF7844.JPG |
