What do you do with the wings? Maybe I need to modify my trailer. My wings are getting scratched from the diamond wires, my mast sits so that the spreader bars are parallel to the ground. My mast cradles shape will not allow me to rotate the mast 90° so that the spreader bars are perpendicular to ground. Should I just cut a piece of wood to put between the wings when folded up so they won't hit the diamond wires? Just wondering how others do it Forrest |

So much depends on how you support the wings. On my 18, I have a PVC support front and rear that holds the wings in alignment so that their seated surfaces are vertical, 90 degrees rotated up from their normal deployed position. With the wings supported thus, there's a sweet spot with the mast foot well forward and the masthead about even with the ends of the rudders, where there's no interference with the diamond wires, even with the spreaders parallel to the crossbars. I was thinking of using wood but that's a sweet solution, nice work! |

A word of caution about storing and trailering the mast on it's side like that, you can end up with a permanent bend or bow in the mast, as mine has after the previous owner stored it that way for 20 years. Similarly, He had supported the mast with a 2x12 cradled in the main traveller yoke and tied down. The mast would bounce on the 2x12, the yoke bent, and the mast track got pinched. I trailer with my mast facing downward, spreaders out parallel to the crossbars and sail track up to prevent damage. |

I'm about the same, except I have the sail track facing down, I don't disconnect the shrouds when trailering. Never considered pinching the track. |
