I've owned both and I can't remember and think it will be no problem. A friend got into a H18 with bad hulls. He found some nice hulls for sale on a 18SX (without mast). His H18 length mast is fine and he has beautiful like new hobie sails on it. Is there any reason he can't move his mast and sails to the SX? I think it should be fine. He's not racing or anything just for fun. |

The two boats are identical except for the wings and the mast/sailplan. Crossbars, hulls, and the like are interchangeable. Rigging lengths are different though so he should use is old H18 rigging or purchase new. |

Some of the SX bits will be nicer than the 18 standard. I noticed a few differences when recently doing this swap. The SX bow tangs had some nice extra holes. Probably to facilitate spinnaker hardware. SX hulls came reinforced at the crossbars. If he's only getting the SX hulls, all of his Standard rigging will swap over nicely. |
