Hello, Greetings from San Diego! I have a 79 boat I sail and an 80 parts boat. The 79 came without a mast or daggerboards and the 80 needs hull repairs from dings and a large roller dimple. The forestays aren't bad looking but they appear to be form 79 and 80. For safety I am replacing them anyway as I plan to ocean sail. I got them about 6 years ago and before that I only sailed 16s I am replacing my upper and lower forestay at a rigging shop. I have 2 swivels to choose from and they have some play but could be the original amount of play for all I know. The swivels look to me like they will last a lifetime. Is there a need to replace the swivel for new or can I feel confident in using the old swivel? Both swivels seem to have the same amount of play. Thank You! |

I've seen multiple types used. Never one that's failed. They can get dust in them and get stiff. You might have to try and soak some lube in there and keep working them to get them smooth. |
