Post subject:  Installing new Gooseneck

I have a Hobie 18 from the early 80's and slowly the parts are all wearing out. I am currently trying to replace the gooseneck in the boom but have no clue as to how to properly install the new part. Any help would be appreciated.

I would guess you are asking about the pin that extends from the boom and attaches it to the mast. If so you must remove the rivets, the cap and then there is a c clip on the end of the pin that must be removed. Install new pin, clip and rivets.

Usually what is broken is the roll pin or the casting. Or the casting is wore out. Easy to fix, just $$.

A cheap fix, you the end casting is the problem. it's often the hole in the end casting that gets worn out and enlarged. The other end casting is the same part without the hole. ;-)
