Post subject: | Mast top Bob question |
I bought a Hobie bob for the top of my 18 this last weekend. The instructions indicate the post for the bob should mount on the side of the mast. That just looks odd. Is there a reason not to mount it on the front? Is the extrusion thicker in front or are there some odd channels there? |

It has more to do with the tight radius of the CompTip. The side is flatter and able to accept the mounting hardware. |

Post subject: | Hey H18sailaway, whats shasta like to sail on? |
I'm just 3 hrs down the road at Clearlake. I think I'm the only 18 on the lake. Just started last year and loving it. If you ever want to sail with another 18 I'd be in for a weekend in shasta (if theres any water in it ![]() |

Yes. You may have to use different hardware or bend the existing stuff to fit better to the radius. |

Clearlake is pretty good, I can only tell you about last summer, as it was my first season. The winds are reliable, every day at about 2-3pm there is a NW - WNW wind. Its usually about 10 -12 mph, but some days it gusts to 25 mph. Its a pretty big lake, actually the biggest natual lake in Cali, but only because 1/2 of Tahoe is in NV. Let me know if you want to know anything else. Hope to see some of you guys this summer. |
