Post subject:  Hobie MidWinters East @ Panama City
Calling All Hobie 18 Sailors:

Hobie Midwinters East will be in Panama City, FL on March 28-30th 2008.
We now have the NOR and Entry form available for download on the class associations web site. http://www.hcana.hobieclass.com/?Page=3017
There will be the option to register online later this week, hopefully.
For those of you who have not joined the class for the 2008 season you can do so at https://www.hcanamembers.com/.

Camping can be done here http://www.floridastateparks.org/standrews/default.cfm
its about a 10 min drive to where we will be sailing.
Just checked, St Andrews is all booked up for that weekend
Plenty of hotel rooms available though!

As always if there is anything I can do please let me know!

We had a great time last year and would love to come down and race with your guys again. Sure would be nice to have a FLEET of EIGHTEENS there this year. . Maybe we can get a few more boats to "make the trip". If I can drive all the way down there from COLORADO, surely we can find four more 18's and have a fleet. So Come on all you Hobie 18 Sailors how about it, is there any interest in having a fleet of 18's at the Midwinters this year. Last year there were only 2. Surely there must be a few more 18 sailors that are up for an early season of Fleet racing in sunny Florida. Chime in here and lets see how many boats we can get together for this event. :D

How about it Hobie 18 owners/sailors, is anyone else going to Mid Winters East in Panama City and planning on sailing a Hobie 18? It is a great venue, and Brad and the Sungammers group put on a gret event. Lets get together a Fleet of 18's this year and have some fun. Sound off here, lets see who else might be coming to race.

Kelli and I are hauling the White Hare there. There's a few other H18s at our club I've mentioned this to them and mm pretty confident I can get at least one of them to join us.

That's 3 boats. What do we need to have a class?

From the sound of things, talking to Stephen and this forum we should have at at least 5 18's to make yalls fleet! Now all we need in some registrations to start rolling in!

Stephen has offered to bring his second boat for John Bauldry to sail. Now all I gotta do is to get John there (easier said than done). :shock:

Charter boats are very very hard to come by in the part of the country, those who have decent boats are sailing. If anyone has any extra h16's laying around I am sure I can get someone to sail them....

Really wasn't planning on making the trip, but feel bad if Stephen doesn't have anyone to race. Last year was a long drive just to get our asses whupped by Brian Lambert, lol. Essentially 2 days of driving to race for a day and a half. Cost is kinda high for someone looking for a job. Besides, I haven't even put my 17 in the water since I bought it last year. Phil Collins and I need to be getting our 17's up to speed before we take on the pros like Matt.

You've got a shorter drive than me (986 vs. 1,033). You must drive like an old lady, John.

I'm leaving Thursday noon and I plan to be on the water by Friday noon. It's only a 15 to 16 hour drive. Timing is critical to avoid gridlock in Atlanta.

Sunday, I'll leave ASAP after awards and I'll be at work by noon Monday.

Sleep is for sissies.

When MWE was in Tampa, (1237 miles), I'd do that in one shot - leave at 6 AM Thursday morning, arrive at DIYC by midnight. Fleet 204 would be there already, so the party would go until at least 2:04 AM. Get up Friday AM, rig the boat, go sailing. Life is good.

So far we have three 18's pre registered, and firm commitments from two others, how about some of you other guys out there, anyone up for a weekend of fun and sun in Panama City Florida??

can't make it to panama, but i'm in biloxi, ms with an 89 hobie 18 if anyone wants to play this summer. willing to drive a little bit.
