Post subject:  h18 jib zipper
Anyone have experience getting the zipper fixed on the h18 jib.
During reinspection of my sails I found that the little zipper starter thing you feed into the zipper pulley thing (this is funny. I have no idea what terminology to use for any of this :lol: ) is missing with about 5 of first teeth. I can actually get it started and zipped up but it's a pain to get it started.
I can't imagine what it might cost to have a whole new zipper installed.
The sail otherwise is in pristine condition.

if you have a local sail loft take it to them, they'd be able to fix it very easy, if not then pack it up and send it to one, we use Whirl Wind Sails for all of our repairs.

John, I have about 4 (white) zippers for an 18 jib luff. I bought them quite awhile ago and have had them stored in a bag inside the house. They have never been used and are complete with all the teeth, slider, and pull tab. The factory lists them at $28 (if you could find one). If you know how to work a sewing machine it's easy to replace....if you don't know how ....find a girlfriend who does. Just be sure to use the right type of thread. I have had this type of work done by the loft @ Mariner sails in Dallas.

They have done fine quality work at very reasonable prices.

I have recommended several other sailors to them, and have gotten positive feedback from them also.

I believe they also post on this forum.

Quantum sail design group in Sarasota is about an hour north of you. I've heard good things about them.

If you can get your hands on the zipper it shouldn't be a big deal to sew it in. I live in Bradenton and I'd be happy to do it for you.
