In any but the most protected areas it can be technically and legally sketchy to install red/green in an improvised fashion, because a knowledgeable oncoming powerboat may maneuver based on you having installed them in a precise legal way. I believe you are supposed to have ready a white 360 light at minimum, and another boat can misinterpret meaning of that missing, yet seeing colors.

I'm sure this sounds prissy, but I have spent many night hours dodging long deadly tow cables between tugs and barges based on the faintest clues of intermittently appearing weak white/red/green. We make decisions based on the way they are shielded at certain angles, which yours probably aren't. EG seeing both colors at once falsely suggests your path is lined up with observing boat, which feels free to zoom to one side... but you may be heading to that side. Also if a reckless drunk boater runs over you, the big multimillion lawsuit payoff to your family could be jeopardized by you having noncomplientt lights

I appreciate everyone's concern for my safety re Nav Lights. Thank you. I really just got them to Bling up my Eclipse - I have no intention of actually using it at night. I have purchased a drinkholder, a phone holder, a combination whistle/compass/thermometer, some bike grip tape (sweaty hands -YUCK) and an old fashioned bicycle bell.
My dog sits calmly on the rear pad while I workout every day. I've dropped 8 LBs already! I just LOVE my Eclipse. It is just what I needed.
