Post subject: | Mirage Eclipse steering and rudder alignment |
I have been using my 12' Mirage Eclipse since April, multiple times per week, on a calm 1 mile lake. Today I went to use it and the arrow on the rudder housing and the rudder aren't aligned, and the steering doesn't work; it doesn't go left at all. When the arrow is facing forward, the rudder is sideways. What happened? How can I fix it? When I use the right caliper, which way does the arrow move? Which way does the rear of the rudder move? I know it sounds stupid, but it doesn't seem that anything is working right..... Please help, thank you. |

We decided to take apart the Rudder Housing. There was a small piece of gravel inside the housing. I'm glad we took it apart and noticed the gravel! We peeled the rubber Hobie logo off and unscrewed the screw that is under it. When the 2 pieces came apart, the piece of gravel was sitting on the bottom half. We put everything back together and it works great!! |
