The axle / drum shaft is a single piece and is simply off center. This can happen if the drive is dropped or impacted on one end of the shaft forcing it to move a bit. Simply use a mallet or hammer to tap it back to center.

I just bought a new Mirage Eclipse Drive for my 2017 12ft Hobie Eclipse pedal board to replace the original one that broke. I noticed on this new drive the axle pins on each side are of two different lengths, one much shorter than the other. On my original drive they were the same length. The unit seems to lock into the slot in my board securely. But the locking latch on the left side has just enough of the shaft of short left axle pin to grip on to with nothing to spare. I wonder if this situation will cause the left side of the drive unit to pop out of the latch when the board is being pedaled at high speeds. I also wonder if this socalled new drive was actually factory second due to this axle length issue and was sold to me as a first quality drive at the regular full price of $825. This new drive also came without any warentee papers or instructions. Have any of you Eclipse owners seen or owned a drive that has different length axle pins? I see no way to change the lengths of these axle pins since the axle is firmly fused to the plastic chassis. |

I tapped the axle pin with a rubber mallet and it moved enough to make both pins equal in length. Thanks Matt for your help in this matter. |
