Hello Everyone I am considering a H-Bar for my 2018 Compass. I do a lot of stand up Bass fishing. Whats everyone's opinion of the H Bar? Its an expensive add on and I am wondering how beneficial this might be. Pros and cons are appreciated. Many thanks Gary |

I don't have any experience in a compass, however I love my h-bar. I've tried a few other brands and find the hobie to be the most secure. I personally find it works great and couldn't see myself without one standing. My only advice would be to make sure it's in the right spot before you mount in. Only con I would have is that it limits storage options, adds weight. Nothing I really cared about |

I have a PA14 & would feel lost without the H-bar. I use it to aid in standing & sitting down gently. It gives me a sense of stability when I gently lean forward & look around for fish sign. It can hold a stripping basket if you fly fish. It doesn't seem to get in the way when casting or landing. A con is that it is a long lever that would quickly accelerate a turtling because "instinct" would naturally result in you reaching out for it to stable yourself in a potential tipping event. I don't car-top (use Trailex trailer}, but you can remove the 4 sliding pins holding it on in a jiffy. |

Thank you for your comments. Nice idea about the fly fishing stripping basket. I enjoy fly fishing but have never done so from a Kayak. Something new I will try this spring. Regards Gary |
