Seems like most people are happy with the Compass steering. Just recently purchased a Compass Duo and it tracks very poorly in any type of wind or current. I have an older Outback with sailing rudder and it tracks extremely well. Does anyone have any suggestions on improving the Compass steering? I want to put on the larger PA rudder but can't figure out how to remove the rudder. |

Well I was able to get the larger PA fin on and cut it down a bit so that it would fit. Here are some pics: https://imgur.com/ReKYwbz https://imgur.com/wNaCCwe The Compass Duo has really bad tracking issues for me under 1-1.5 mph. When I try to drift into the wind, the boat turns sideways. Also, when peddling into slight chop and wind, if we don't go fast enough, the boat turns in circles. The larger PA fin hasn't helped much. |

Could be weight placement? weight forward will cause the bow to veer off course and reduce rudder effectiveness. |
