I'm not sure what this part is but I feel that I'll need to replace it eventually as it is wearing down from dragging the compass a few feet each time I dock/load.

After the initial rubbing they are surprisingly durable. They are replaceable and saves grinding a hole in your keel |

I also put a couple of layers of Gorilla tape on that. I have Gorilla tape along the center of the hull and replace when it gets ground up, every half dozen trips or so. |
