Hobie compass driver here. Lately when I left the back end of the boat up to allow Scupper cart to release and drop out, it gets stuck. I can’t reach that far up with my foot to give it a nudge out. I am not seeing any thing obvious that is protruding or sticking. It seems like the two legs are not proper distance apart. :|

Maybe the cart rods got bent? Does it go into the holes easy?

We commonly need to make slight adjustments on the cart frames. The welds seem to distort the dimension at times.

We use a couple of metal pipes as leverage and just bend them slightly.

When you lift the back up i assume your pivoting on the bow, which means that the kayak is now on an angle meaning that the cart will not fall straight down but will get bound up on the scupper holes. If you place the cart in upside-down from the top does it go in an out easily? if it does then your cart is OK. My approach is to lift it slowly and just give it a little jiggle as i raise the stern to make sure that the cart starts to slide out as soon as the kayak is raised.
