| Post subject: | New compass cracked handles |
I bought a new 2019 mirage compass, slate blue, did not notice when I picked it up that the inset carry handles on both sides were split and cracked. My wife actually cut her finger on one, and they almost look like they were forced into the cut out slots that may have been too small.I am trying to get the dealer to warranty tbem, but its turning into a hassle, my buddy had the same problem with his, and just installed the 71190031 handles and was happy. That is what I will probably do as well, but I am not at all happy spending 2000 on this boat, which is my first Hobie product, the quality is lacking. I do not want to take this thing in for warranty repair, as I work at a marine dealer as a boat tech, I just want the parts replaced. |

Did you ever get the cracked handles replaced? Just received my new 2020 compass and noticed a crack on the right hand molded carry handle. My dealer had said he will take care of it, I believe he has the part on order. Have you had any more problems with the handles? |

I did receive a replacement handle, and installed it myself. Noticed that the cutout wasn’t actually cut uniformly and that was why it cause the handle to crack. I just filed it down smooth and flush and pushed the new handle in place... which by the way was actually tighty snug. No problems afterwards. |
