Purchased my first year with a Hobie......a 2019 Compass and love it. I also purchased the Compass Loader with the boat. If you use the Hobie Loader be very careful with it. Unfor one of the bottom rivets on the black feet pulled out of the loader car topping on a dirt launch. IMO the loader is a good design, however, the black feet are a weak point. While topping, the weight of the kayak while the bow is still on the car stresses the rivets. Also, the twisting when the bow is walked to the side of the vehicle and set on the ground stresses the rivets. If I had to bet it was the twisting the caused to rivet to fail but I'm no design engineer. I don't know if a hard surface like concrete or asphalt would cause less stress, but larger rivets or another foot attachment solution is needed IMO. I am contemplating how to re-attach the foot on my loader.....probably a larger rivet for now. |

It could be the type of rivet used. I believe we changed the webbing straps rivets for this type of issue. This should be covered by warranty. |

I hadn't considered warranty. I guess I assumed it wood be looked at as abuse of the loader. The dealer I purchased it from is a 3hr drive one way but I do have a dealer near me. Can I take it to the dealer near me? |
