I just picked up my 2021 compass over the weekend and proceeded to install my fish finder. The owners manual says to drill 2, 1 3/8 inch holes, one behind the seat and one on the left or right side near where the fish finder would be. Unfortunately the hardware that was included has one fitting that fits in the 1 3/8 in hole and the other fitting fits in a 1 inch hole that was used on previous years. So now I am short one fitting. Also the manual says to drill one of holes vertically on the “firewall” behind the seat rather than on the deck next to the scupper where the transducer wire comes out, like previous years. If you happen to be proactive and notice that the one fitting is for an inch opening and you drill a 1 inch hole on the firewall you will not be able to reach behind to put the nut plate on. Unfortunately my dealer was unable to help me and now I am left with a hole that is too large. |

You could order a Thru Hull 3 Way Plug Kit from your Hobie dealer. That way you could still use that oversized hole. If you're interested, the part number is 86505613. |

Thank you for the response. It just stinks that because I followed the directions of the owners manual that I now have to spend extra money to purchase the three way plug kit. I definitely think Hobie needs to address this and make sure the kits are correct going out with the new models. Since the manual contradicts what’s in the hardware bag, there will be a lot of other people with this same complaint unless its fixed. |

Did you purchase the kit from a Hobie dealer? If the kit was wrong, they will be able to help you get the correct parts. |

No, It was the Lowrance Ready kit that came with the Compass. |

Cameron is looking into this issue. We certainly should supply you with the correct parts if that is what the instructions were calling out. |

Hi All, Bumping this thread back up to the top. New 2021 Hobie Compass owner here and very excited to join the Hobie family. I have encountered the same exact thing as the original poster where the instruction manual states two 3-way plugs should be used but I have only received one in the package. How can I go about getting a 3-way plug for my fishfinder installation? Thanks in advance, Mike |

Contact your dealer to sort that out. |

Yes from my experience I can verify that the 2021 Lowrance ready kit is still not including the second 3-way plug. And yes, my dealer did sort it out - by selling me a stand alone 3-way plug kit. I wasn’t impressed about having to fork out extra money for this, but fully understood that the dealer shouldn’t be out of pocket either. The supplied kit error was supposedly being addressed back in April, so disappointing that dealers and customers are still being adversely impacted |

I'm still not clear on the issue (instruction change or missing parts), but your dealer would have worked that out with our sales department if it was simply missing parts. |

Instructions updated in June 2019 for 2020 and newer: https://media.hobie.com/digital_assets/Compass_Duo_Manual_Kick_Up_Rev.pdf#page=16 Page 17 describes the holes to be drilled. Wire Installation Drill one 1” hole and one 1 3/8” hole using a hole saw in the areas indicated. The forward (admin added: 1 3/8" according to the diagram) hole can be drilled on the left or right. This is not changed for 2021 as the 3-way fitting is not really designed for floor use. Is this not what is in your manual? |

Matt Miller the hard copy manual we receive with the 2021 Compass has been further updated than the online version. In terms of the plug install, this is because the hull contouring has changed. As a result, the new recommended positioning of the hole for the wire coming up from the scupper is on the firewall (ie. vertical) behind the seat. The problem with this position is that you are unable to reach your hand from the centre hatch to tighten the nut on a single (1 inch) plug. Hence the need for another 3-way plug that is fitted using self tappers. |

Thanks for that. I will find the new manual and have the assembly line double-check their kit for the boat. |

This was resolved at the factory, but there could be a few boats still in dealer stocks with the issue. |
