I got to try out this bungee cup holder mod on my first inshore fishing trip recently. Very happy with it. Simple and didn't require any drilling. Held my ThermoFlask quite nicely.

New owner of a 2020 demo Compass from a dealer that was never used due to covid. I don't fish, but felt the width and stability would be nice which it is. We also have the Oasis which has the rudder up and down cord quite a bit closer to the seat. I find the rudder up and down control to be much too far from the seat. Any ideas how to attach something to make it easier to reach? The cup holder is useless. Any ideas on making it hold a can or bottle? The seat could be more comfortable. Ideas on after market cushions? I'd love to go for an upgraded seat but don't see that's as available. Any other general kayaking, non fishing, tweaks/accesories you find enhance the Compass? |

The cup holder works perfectly with a standard nalgene bottle, oddly. |

That's a great mod! Where did you find the bungee, or if you made it, the eyelet cord ends that attached to the map pocket screws? |

I got the bungee on amazon (SGT KNOTS Marine Grade Shock Cord - 100% Stretch, Dacron Polyester Bungee for DIY Projects, Tie Downs, Commercial Uses (3/16" x 25ft, WoodlandCamo). The eyelet cord ends were part of a paddle keeper kit I bought on clearance years ago (Amazon sells them - 20 Pcs Bungee Shock Cord Hook for 1/4 inch Cord Rope Terminal Ends Tabbed S Open Cord Hooks End with Straight Hooks for Kayaks). I think foam tube that helps the bottle to slide into the cup holder was part of a sunglasses float from years ago. Bryan aka Alabama Kayaker |
