| Post subject: | 2021 Compass seat straps |
New 2021 Compass, yet to be taken out (still alot of hard water up here). Not sure how to efficiently hook the seat straps into the padeyes. Adsolutely no room between the front seat legs and the eyes to work the hook in. And the straps are really short. Seat back is straight up with no additional strap room to recline. I though this issue was fixed several years ago with longer straps? What is the "new" strap length supposed to be? JDD |

The solution to both problems for me was to knot a length of heavy parachute cord into a small loop and attach to the padeyes by pushing the loop through the padeye and running it back through the loop. I now attach the seat clips to the parachute cord making it easier to accomplish as well as lessening the chances of breaking the plastic padeyes (a common problem for many). Also the loops give extra length to the seat straps allowing more adjustment to move the seatback past vertical. Good luck with your new kayak. |

Thanks. I will likely do something similar. Seems like engineering could work a fix for that to make it more user friendly. How long are your paracord loops? |

A 6 or 7" loop when looped through the padeye extends the attachment point back about 3". Just try different lengths to find what works best. Good luck. |
