I have to me a strange situation. When I go out fishing or other in my compass the first couple times dropping the Peddle Drive in usually no problem but fishing in South Texas water can be really shallow so there are times I have to pull the drive. Issue is that for some unknown reason to me the drive will not just drop in and locking to place easily. Often the right side will not engage. I have changed the springs and the locks work fine it seems but no matter what I do that right side will not fall into place or lock in. Has anyone had this problem and figured out the cause. |

When you place it in the well, the drive may be tilted fore or aft. This can cause hang-ups. https://www.hobie.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=60&t=12836 |

I'll keep an eye on it next time out but this is my 3rd Hobie having had 2 outbacks previously over the years and even this compass the first couple year never any issues and as mentioned the first couple drop in seem to have no problem but after that the right side will not go in. Very strange but will mess with it some more next time |

Same drive in the same boat? Could be tolerance or even changes in temperature. |

I know this is a very old post. but my Outback had this problem, and I wanted to chime in with some thoughts. I took my outback back to the shop and we dropped the drive in. you could see where it was sitting up hard against the side of the boat in spots. we filed down the high spots and it worked..kinda. it got way better. my boat would spit the drive out, mid trip. I would just find it loose. normally, I would cuss and just stuff it back in and physically kick the two levers in place to lock it in. after awhile, I notice it would only happen in summer. winter was good. I deduced it was the boat expanding from the heat and puking out the drive. that hull eventually cracked and the new warranty hull takes the drive like butter. |
