I was flying a hull and having fun in 16-18 mph wind when CRACK!

I nearly cried. My 2 boys and I had just won first place in the Novice class the weekend before at the Texas City Dike -Wayward Winds Regatta. It was our first race. At least the boat died a winner! or maybe it will live again? (see post under repair forum if you want to suggest a fix)

I've seen that type of break before, but not on a 16.

It's repairable.

Wow! Nice looking 1973 model!

Yes, we have seen rail failures in the past, but not for some time.

Ouch! I've seen your boat out at the dike. Wow on 35 year old boat. Definitely repairable if nothin else for sentimental sake.

CW's boat did that same exact thing last year. I thought it looked like a cooler lid the way it was flipped up.

Oh it's killing me that its in this condition. I 've only had it for a year and a half. I made a new trampoline for it and we sailed it lots. Its been a fun boat and well worth the price I paid. I'm looking into having it repaired. I'm not patient enough to do a good job myself.

Here's a few fun memories and a video from last summer

Great fix. Add a hinge, a latch and a six pack!

Yea, except when you go for your beer, your mast falls down!

Only if you're on a Starboard tack. Got to plan ahead.
