Post subject:  Rigging and setup questions
Every time i have set up my H16 its been on the launch except stepping the mast, that i do while its on the trlr. My question is has anyone ever done a setup 100% on the trlr? What would be the up and down sides of this. The reason i ask is simply because my 10year old had asked me that question and i really didnt have a answer for him. Where i put in its not really a good thing for me to do that i have to go around a few tree branches above the launch and i dont want to take the chance on ruining my sails. I told him i would try to get him a answer on what other people thought on setting up on the trlr. Thanks again.

Only reason I ever completely set up on the trailer (minus raising sails) was when having to launch from boat ramp due to no beaching spot.

I would say that towing any boat on a trailer with the sails up would be a very bad idea. If there is any breeze, that would make it even worse.

When you set your sails and there is a breeze, you want to have the boat pointed into the wind.

Not a problem setting it up on the trailer. Make sure you don't take all of the tie downs off or you will end up with the nose or the stern on the parking lot. If you put the sail up also make sure at least 2 tie downs are still attached and the sails not cleated so you don't blow off of the trailer. Once started backing down the ramp the tie downs can come off and once in the water hold the boat into the wind before boarding and sailing off
