Post subject:  making the 16 more comfortable

Hi,
I will soon be buying a used H16 and want to know if there is a way to make it more comfortable? I saw the Sit'nSail but it looks hard and is kind of pricey.
Thanks!

Get a trapeze harness and hang from the wires! That is the most comfortable way to sail for sure.

Wings are not advised on the 16.

Sit N Sail is out of business, so those wings may be difficult to find. I bought a set and they are comfortable compared to sitting on the tramp or tramp frame, but Matt's suggestion is cheaper and easier.

I got the wings for my father-in-law who loves the boat but not the seated position, and he's too old and uncoordinated for the trapeze.

I think Sit N Sail is trying to get away from the retail side of things. I know they approached us about being a dealer. We took a pass because of the minimums.

If you don't race the boat you might want to think about replacing the tramp lacing with shock cord (bungee). It makes the ride softer, but it will wear out faster than nylon rope.

I don't find my 16 uncomfortable. IMO it's far more comfortable than a sunfish.

Doesn't sailing from the wire on a light air day make you more susceptible to capsize? I'm always terrified that the boat will come over on top of me if I get out there in light air.

According to their web site they've given up.

That's the main reason I moved into the getaway, sure its a little slower but man is it ever comfortable to sail. I am a non competitive sailor and really like the seats on the getaway.
