We were down on the beach on Monday getting the Hobie's ready for pull out for the winter:cry: when I eyeballed the trap wires on both my H16 and my buddies H16 and noticed my wire's seemed longer than his.Sure enough when I got the tape measure out my wires were 3" longer than his.(easy with the jokes here boy's) ![]() My question is: what if any is the standard Hobie factory length for a trap wire? Thanks.Rob |

Don't know the length, looks like you may be 25 lbs heavier than your buddy? Seriously, it depends on how they were set up and possibly modified. Look on Page 10 of the 2007-2008 catalogue. If yours are upgraded to the double adjustable traps, they will be shorter by about 8". Perhaps your buddies' broke one time, and they were cut and re-thimbled. Real question is why are you taking your Hobie out so early when there is at least one more weekend of sailing? Where do you sail out of? NSC? Brittania? LDSC? Email me off line at lunnjohn at magma dot ca. This Saturday is 'take out' day at Kanata Sailing Club, and I agree, boo hoo, so sad. |

The sum of the Book of Knowledge is generally available online. Either off of hobiecat.com or www.hcana.hobieclass.com. I have a 3-ring binder full of print outs. The BoK. Though it does include some data not generally available to the public. Cheers |

Trap wire lengths varied greatly over the years. One guy would say they are too long... another too short. Depends on Mast rake too. The factory was bouncing around like a ping pong ball trying to accommodate everyone. Back in about 1989 I set the standard length per boat model by noting that the black handle should be 32" off the deck or wing you are trapping from. This works for most users. |
