I am new at this and flip quite often and I live where the wind is on and off alot. So I want to get an electric or gas motor and bracket so I won't have to paddle in and paddle out so much... If I use electric, where do you put a battery on a Hobie 16?? If I go gas, does the motor not drip gas if you flip over? I have a mast float so I won't go turtle, but still concerned with best engine to use. Thanks for any wind you can fill my sail with on this... :D

My problem with using a battery powered motor is they never mix good with water, especially saltwater...

The battery would mount forward of the mast in a case, where some have a basket to carry a cooler.

I have seen a couple Hobies with small gas motors that fold up underneath. One infamous man mounted a 9.9hp behind his to pull water skiers in a small lake.
