Push come to shove, worst case scenario, I've used a cork out of a wine bottle, whittled it down a bit and twisted it in. It worked for an entire weekend of racing. :D

I've never found a plug to fit other than the ones from Hobie. A cork will work push come to shove.

I had to use a cork a few weekends ago, it actually worked better than the plug I lost. Biggest problem was I had to destroy it to get it out.

Do you have any Patron Tequila??? I have read somewhere that the cord from one of those bottles is the perfect size for the drain plug.... Plus the end of the cork is big and won't go all the way through the drain plug hole like a wine bottle cork would.

How do you like that bit of knowledge??? I'd actually like to know if it works...

I've got my new drain plugs, but mistakenly ordered them without a gasket. I'll order new ones to have spares around, but in the interim, anyone know the size of the gasket so I can pick up some temporary ones at the hardware store? Thank you!

Looks like 3/4" by either 5/32" or 3/16"

EDIT: 5/32 or 3/16 is the thread pitch

Yeah, you can buy a little package of 10 o-rings for almost nothing. I like them better because they are softer and seal better without having to really crank down on the drain plugs. They are soft enough that they will need to be replaced more often, but they come in packs of 10.

That's what I was thinking. I used to buy these to fill in the gaps on a K-bar leather grip and they're generally made for plumbing so they're durable. Amazon has some (as does the local Home Depot):

1. 10 for $5.99 210 Silicone O-Ring, 70A Durometer, Red, 3/4" ID, 1" OD, 1/8" Width (Pack of 10) - https://www.amazon.com/210-Silicone-Rin ... 472&sr=8-3

2. 100 for $8.26 210 Buna-N O-Ring, 70A Durometer, Black, 3/4" ID, 1" OD, 1/8" Width (Pack of 100) - https://www.amazon.com/210-Buna-N-Ring- ... 472&sr=8-5

While I prefer the black color, the red/silicone ones look like they'll stand up to anything (including salt water, which I don't have here but might be good for others). The black ones (#2) aren't good in UV light. And at the end of the day ... the color really isn't relevant.

Thanks all!
