Post subject:  Call me a Tramp but....
I have to ask is a Hobie Tramp really worth the price as I NEED a new tramp on my 1977 boat and the blue Amish made on EBAY is like $169... not 450+!? WOW.... I know, I know... the Hobie is better, but like that much better? I think I would like the mesh type so I can see and feel the water in my face! Has anyone had experience with the Amish Tramps? :roll:
PS... Thanks for all the assistance thus far. I have just disassembled my new 31 year old baby and will be replacing lots of parts so expect to hear back from me soon. I guess I should have made my sign on Clueless...

depends on how long you want to keep the boat. The Hobie tramp is less money in the long run if you factor in the years it will last. I know this sounds one sided coming from a Hobie dealer.....
the stitching will dry rot and the tramp will fall apart at the seams.
I do under stand not having the cash now for a Hobie tramp as I am often that way myself.

BTW when did it become okay for Amish to use computers?

Thanks again! I guess I will go with the real thing as the boat is a "keeper". Can't imagine parting with it. What fun! You don't have any leads on a rainbow jib do you?

They can use them at work, but not in the home. When I worked as an automation controls salesman, one of the best factory maintenance electricians I dealt with was Amish. Lots of people have Amish housekeepers. They can use YOUR vacuum, but can't have their own. Many Amish keep a cell phone out in the barn for emergencies, but don't let the Parson see it!

I'm retired and can't afford Hobie prices so I bought an Amish tramp last year. Fit great. Works great. Material and quality seem pretty good. Can't say how long it will last. My only complaint is the storage pockets are pretty useless. They are sewn right where your crew would normally sit.

I weighed this same decision... everything said go with hobie real product... I did and I love it. 3 seasons on the hobie tramp and its still brand new!

Also... I have yellow, white, and rainbow striped sails in good condition... I'd do a swap to something a little less flaming. ;)

Matt, the Hobie prices inside the catalog are different than the prices in the parts list at the back of the catalog. This has led to major price differences when the Hobie dealers I contacted quote prices......... Reference the Hobie 18 black mesh trampoline.

I hope this confusion can be corrected......... for the dealers and sailors sake. One product, one price.
