| Post subject: | Replacement Parts and Getting Ready for Spring |
I'm looking to upgrade some components over the next few weeks and wondering if anyone has any knowledge or experience with the 1/8" lines for shrouds, bridle and forestay? I've noticed many places carry the 1/8" and the 5/32" (more $$). Any dos and don'ts for using either of the sizes? Also looking to put a baby bob on a non comp-tip mast. Does anyone know the correct size self tapping screws to use in order to not cause damage to the sheave? We'll be sailing soon! |

Hey Bob, The Baby Bob kit comes with all of the hardware needed for install, they are not self tapping. If you get the wrong screws you run the risk of breaking the sheave. Don't ask how I know;) Go with the stock 16 shrouds and wires available from any Hobie dealer. |

Oh, and if it's a 16 or 18, change out the anchor pins where the shrouds attach to the hulls. Old ones are prone to breakage. Hope that helps! |

Hope that helps! Just for my own clarification; are you referring to the anchor pin (20100000), the anchor bar (50101701), or one of the several clevis pins eventually connecting these parts to the shroud . I'm looking at the standard parts diagram pdf on the hobie site as a reference. (http://static.hobiecat.com/2010_archive/support/pdfs/PARTS_14-16.pdf) I'm pretty confident that I have an "old one". Thanks. |

Some follow up on the original question... Are the stock Hobie lines for the shrouds, bridle and forestay 1/8 or 5/32? Has anyone used self tapping screws for a baby bob install? If so, what size was used to avaiod the sheave? |

On a comp tip, you drill out the pin on 1 sheave and then put a small bolt through it. The other bolt goes in between the 2 sheaves. Could you put a bolt thru your sheave and still find a purchase point for another screw or bolt? |
