A couple F18 sailing buddies of mine remarked while standing behind my H16 that the rudders appear to have an outboard curve to them. Is this normal? Is it common for these plastic rudders to warp or develop a twist over time? Like the earlier post here I'm getting a lot of helm on one tack but not the other. |

I had a bunch of problems with my white 80's style rudder blades. Some of the problems I contributed to twist or flexing under load. The problem went away after I got 90's style black fiberglass blades. At the same time I raked those more forward. I have about no weather helm in light air and minmal weaher helm in > 15 knots wind. The new generation of EPO's are nice and light compared to the old stuff - the problem is that they come close to the value of a 70's or 80's Hobie 16... Patrick |
