Any of you masters out there have any tips for flying hulls with the H16? My old Prindle 18 was pretty easy to lift a hull and it stayed relatively stable in flight. My H16 is a little squirrelly by comparison. Not sure if it is because the Prindle had deeper hulls or lower center of gravity or what. I can't seem to keep the Hobie elevated for long and not sure whether to head up or fall off. My instinct is to head up and sheet out a bit but the boat seems to become very unstable. |

You just have to get the ballance of the boat down. If the wind is steady, I find that I just use the tiller to keep it up, usually only with little adjustments. Once you start pumping the main, your movements affect the ballance, as do the big changes in the sail. |

can I expound on the question? How do you get a hull up? What is "pumping the main" as was said before? What does it take to get the hull up? What reach are you on to get it up? I know nothing about getting it up, so I can't practice what I don't know.... Can you tell us how to get started and "what" to practice? Thanks |

Pull your sail and traveler in toward the center of the boat Try to go in the direction of the fastest boat speed you will have lift off This is a good place to start I used to play on shore and fly on the beach On a slow wind day you can always send the crew to the other side of the boat just for practice Every sail you will become better every mistake is a learning experience Make sure that you can right the boat and fly away |

Get rid of the monoslug photo in your signature and we'll reconsider your humor. |

1 travel out your main about 8 inches to start ... to control boat amd spill wind. 2 sheet in the main while on a broad reach... if you don't get it up... sheet in your main traveller... inch by inch... look here... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_3eljCl7BEk |
