Ya, what gives? The seaway has posts that are like tack welded to the swivel plate. The pictured adaptor plate won't work...unless...are the long screws pictured intended to bolt thru the seaway posts?

I was having issues with my new mainsheet slipping through the traveler cleat last year, so I went and bought a nice Ronstan cleat with a fairlead (just like the one shown in the bottom right of p.22 in the catalog). I figured I would have to drill a new hole in the swivel plate since the new hole spacing (1-1/2") wasn't the same as the old hole spacing (I don't remember what it was), but when I took the cleat apart I saw that there were two posts there too. I really don't feel like dealing with modifying the current plate. So my question is: What part(s) do I need to make this work? I've got the RF5010 carbon cam cleat with fairlead. I'd prefer not to have to repurchase what I've already got. Are the new plates drop in replacements for the old ones? Thanks in advance. |

I don't think the adapter will work for that application. Really, the only way to go is something like this:  There is a different base that's curved to fit the crossbar. J |

Is there any way to buy that guy without the cleat included? All I see is part 50007, which includes the $25-30 cam cleat that I already purchased (through my dealer). It looks like the 3 hole mounting plate is the same, is that correct? Thanks again, Jeff |

Jeff, Maybe older (pre-'84) swivel cleat bases don't have the posts integral to the base. If I find one that the adapter plate will work with, it's yours. Stop by early Saturday. John |
