I have a 92 ish H16 Today upwind in 15+ knots twin trapped I notices the lee bow really flexing/ twisting Is this normal? The prevoius owner had epoxied the frame casting to hull pylons In have std hobie vinyl tramp with double grommets laced as advised here with pre bent side bars |

How much flex is there if you just lift one bow or stern? |

OK... lets do a poll.. when you lift your port hull.. how far does it move before the starboard hull moves... come on take the time... and let us know... |

I don't know but I noticed mine doing the same thing about two years ago. I only notice it when I'm flying a hull, maybe because that's when I'm really looking at the plane of the boat. I was informed that this was quite normal. It could be happening at other times without me seeing it. |

They all flex a little. The more worn the corner castings and pylons, the more flex. I measured one boat that flexed 18" when I lifted one bow on the trailer. Upon closer inspection the pylons were worn to almost paper thin, so we junked the boat. The best way to fix it is to shim the worn castings with epoxy, then tighten your trampoline as tight as you can get it. I personally think that boats laced with shock cord wear the corner castings faster. So get some low stretch line. Sail on! |
