i want to know if anyone knows how to identify yr of my hobie cat 16 the serial num. is illegible but my sail number is 709!!!!! thats right 709!!!!!! its been in the family for years and years and like new cond. any help with this info would be greatly appreciated. thanks |

Assuming that 706 is your original sail number, the serial number would be stamped on the outside of the front pylons. If it is indeed there, it will only be a four digit number. Unfortunately, you cannot identify the year from that number. It will either be a '71 or '72. If the serial number is not on the pylons, then there is a HIN engraved on the transoms. The last two digits will be the model year of manufacture. |
