| Post subject: | Length of H16 Trap Wires? |
I bought an H16 a few weeks ago. It came with a set of trap wires that appear to have never been used. I attached them to the mast today and found out that they stop at about 4 1/2' off the deck. The pictures I've seen with folks out on the trap seem to have wires/handles much lower than that. Is the wire supposed to be that short, or do I have the wrong trap wires? Thanks, Robert |

mmm, i thought they were a bit higher, but not much, i mean, you want to be nearly level with the boat, and when you push yourself out, you will be higher than you were when attached to the wire on the boat, so.... should work? |

Trapeze wire lenghts should be 16 ft, 9 1/8". The ends do hang above the deck, because the entire trapeze assembly includes shock cord and lenths of trapeze adjustment line (you can see how it is set up in the parts manual). The trapeze adjustment line, which attaches to the dogbones or J&H handles on one end and the shock cord on the other, are 3 ft, 6" and are threaded through the thimble at the end of the trapeze wire. it has an adjustment stopper on it that allows you to determine how low you want the handles to go when hiking out. The shock cord goes underneath the trampoline to the trapeze on the other side of the boat. I hope that helps! BTW...all the Hobie 16 line and wire lengths can be found at http://www.hca-na.org/ |

The handle should be about 32" above the side rail. |
