So I went the other day and I pushed on the hulls, top and sides, and even rapped on them lightly with my fist (to check for sound differences) and the hulls seem structurally sound.

I would feel safe on top of the hulls, but not the trampoline. Now that the boat has been sitting for a few years, the trampoline is starting to look a little ragged and i think sitting on it (I weigh 300+) might stress it to the point of failure.

How much are we looking at ballpark to replace the trampoline and wheres the best place to order it from?

Having the jib repaired as this is being typed/read and will be back with me soon in good condition :)

im excited about getting this thing going so i can go sailing!

Hobie mesh tramps are running $509, white vinyl about $100 less, call you favorite dealer and place an order. You can do a search on these forums on the debates over Hobie made tramps and the cheaper, lesser quality tramps.

You can get cheaper tramps, but I think you get the best value for the money by buying a Hobie tramp. Most, if not all, aftermarket tramps are stitched whereas the Hobie tramp is welded. I've heard of the stitching failing after several years, more so if the boat is stored outside.

Welded = no stitching. No stitching means they don't come apart. Ever. They're either welded with heat or ultrasonic (Matt M. can tell us which).

The thread in sewn tramps eventually falls victim to UV exposure and / or abrasion. They eventually need to be re-stitched. It usually only takes a couple of years.

Look Ma! No stitching!
