Flightline is OK for a mainsheet, but the polyolefin cover will probably degrade faster than you want. It'll get "prickly" and stiffer instead of fuzzing up and getting softer like polyester / Dyneema blends. 9.5 mm (3/8") is a little large. 8 mm will run through the blocks better. New England Bzzz Line is a better call, and at $0.72 / ft for 8mm, a lot cheaper than Flightline. New England Salsa is also a good call; still cheaper at $1.39 / ft for 8 mm. I've used both and they've held up well - gotten better with use in fact. Harken 351s are too big for the jib sheet if you want to go low profile. Harken 224 Micro Blocks are what come with new boats: ![]() 32' x 1/4" is the size of the stock jib sheet. |

huh...harkens website lists the 351 as standard stuff! did they mess up??? Matt- i switched to 8mm bzzz in yellow/white i also switched jib blocks like you said, and got 1/4 in rope.... now all i need to double check is length for the 6:1 downhaul....15ft sound about right? |

Harken wants to sell you blocks, not necessarily what you need. The 351 block is sexy and twice the cost of the plain old 224. Make sense now? Like I said, Flightline is OK, but I'd find something else to spend the WM card on. You can get twice as much Bzzz for the same $. 15' is a little long for the downhaul, but it's better to go a little long and then trim it off. |

yeah i edited the post as you were writing yours...i searched for buzz on WM website (didnt show up), then i realized its Bzzz line....so i found it! using the extra money to get a davis telo-cat windvane and some new gloves..... thinking im going to go with 12ft for the downhaul |

1/4" is not necessarily 1/4" Most line today is metric. 1/4" = 6.35 mm. Most manufacturers offer a 6 mm line and call it 1/4" or an 8 mm line and call it 5/16", when it's really a little bigger than that. The line you want for a jib sheet is 7 mm Bzzz. The stock line on new boats is Liros Magic Speed - 6 mm (I think - looks a lot like it) |

Calling a Hobie Dealer that knows their stuff and does this all day long. And I can guarantee that most of us charge less than WM. On most items, especially line, shackles, and harnesses, we can save you $$. |
