Post subject:  Need advice on repair of pontoon

I have a 1987 H-16 that I sail fairly hard. I am beginning to have problem with the left pontoon. The posts (front and back) appear to be pushimg down through the bottom of the hull. A crack has appeared (approx 6" long) where I assume the base of the post fits into the bottom of the pontoon. The top of the pontoon appears to be deflected downward as well. The crack associated with the forward post has started to leak. Is this a common problem with H-16s, and is there a standard fix? Thanks in advance for any help.

Sounds like the beginning of structural failure of the deck and pylons. Any attempt to repair may not be permanent or safe.

Check out the "Pylon Shoe Repairs" article in the Sept/Oct 2009 HOTLINE magazine.
