Post subject:  One piece rudder majors?

Can anyone tell me if i need to grind my lower rudder castings to enable them to turn properly. The only other way i could see in making this new one piece gudgeon work is filing down the heads of the screws that go into the transom?

Matt Miller , please help...i really want to be sailing by this weekend!
Summer is running out!

I have also had an issue making the rudder pins correctly allign from top to bottom..this seems really strange to me as if the pin goes through the first two holes( from the bottom) then the top two holes( one in the boat itself and one in the one piece gudgeon) should surely allign. Unless the gudgeon has warped or has been fitted wrong? any ideas?

Thanks heaps!

I think you have California mixed up with Florida, One of the best reggatas out west is Mile High at Huntington Lake witch is currently under about 5 feet of snow. The valley has four seasons. We can drive south for warmer Temps. Highs right now are around 80. sailing every chance I get.

Peace

Post subject:  Seasons?

We have four seasons too: Winter, Pothole, Roadwork and Fall
Actually just did my last skiing trip for the season at Killngton, Vt- (which is still open for a few weeks) But this forum is for sailing, not skiing. Still- check this video out, it has to do with water and Carribean music... and CRAZY people- all of which relate to this forum in one way or the other.

Grind?

You might have to to get the full turn, but when do you do that anyway? You can grind a little to miss the screw head.
