Post subject:  Jib Halyard

Can someone please post a detailed explanation or picture on how to thread the jb halyard through the new system when raising the jib. On my old system, the pulley that was on the halyard was threaded through and would wind up near the bottom of the mast after the jib was up. The new system has the pulley up at the top of the mast.

Can seem to figure it out? :?:

... pulley up at the top of the mast - and Jib halyard ... That does not sound right.

yeah... it's right... check out the 3rd diagram on page 10 of this pdf file from the Hobie Cat Association of Nort America's website.

It clearly shows this new set-up for rigging the jib.

Does anybody else have this new system? How do you like it versus the "old way"?

I have it on my new boat, and love it. I can get the shrouds as tight as I want, and the Jib battens don't get caught up unless the wind is barely blowing...

I just loop it through the center of the cleat and pull down. The lower pulley isn't used in this system, at least not how I've been using it.
