Post subject:  Bendy comp tip

I have a 85 H16 that was new to me last year. The comp tip bends (hooks) off to one side when I get the jib hoisted and tightened down. This is the first Hobie that I have had with the comp tip so I am not used to it yet. When sailing it seems to bend off to windward (I think). Is this normal or should I start my search for a replacement mast before this puppy snaps? I keep the boat rigged on the trailer in NC. Should I be covering up the comp tip somehow to avoid UV damage.

Thanks Ed in NC

The entire mast will take a bend once the rig is tensioned with the jib halyard and downhaul is applied. The mid section bends off the leeward, so the head would seem like it bends to weather. Should be somewhat uniform from top to bottom of the mast. Sounds ok to me. Photo(s)?

ya, that's typical, unless you are getting tons of bend?
