Post subject:  Third Hand Install instructions

I bought a third hand from Hobie (part no 204). It did not come with any instruction and I want to get the forums opinion before I try and go about installing this thing. It took a while but I think I understand how it is all assembled. The supplied carriage bolt with the cut off edges goes into the traveler track, on go the washers and nut, then the plate and then the top lock nut. The bolt for the clip that holds the tiller goes through the clip, through the plate, and attaches with the lock nut and the remaining exposed threads set down into the traveler track. So Far so good I think....

Question is - How the heck do I get the bolt with the cut off edges into the dang track. Do I have to take off the track or the corner casting off the tramp and then have to re-rivet them back on or can I force the bolt into the track and turn it somehow without damaging the threads?? Any Help out there???
Thanks
Ed

Drill out the last two or three rivets on the track, and CAREFULLY pry the track up and slide the bolt it...

order some new counter-sunk SS rivets from

Should insert into the track and rotate easily.

Here are the instructions that should have been with the kit: http://static.hobiecat.com/linked_images/204.pdf

Thanks for the quick reply - When I was at the boat last weekend I tried to just insert the bolt and turn but there is not way its going to go in easy. Am I missing something. Maybe I need to get some wrenches on this thing. I just did not want to force it until I researched it a little. Thank you for the instructions.
