Is this beneficial? Does it effect the jib and working room for the top? |

What do you mean by "working room at the top"? It is beneficial as it reduces tension in the mast, moving some (1/3 I think) of the rig tension out to the forestay, so the mast rotates easier, which helps tacking. All the new boats have it as well, so there's that, too. |
